[L] Hammer PvP skill question

Ok, I play on the ladder (mention that because of some of the items available there etc.) and am going to be dueling with a friend. I'm currently using my Hdin mfer and am converting him for pvp.

Skills as follows:

MAX conc

MAX vigor

MAX Aim

MAX Hammers (duh?)

1 pt in HS

1 pt in redemption

My first thought was to make a Liberator, but after some self assesment I realize now that I would prefer a CTA/spirit switch instead of having to swap out a grief after BO. So liby is not my style.

I know about the increased resistances available through passive points into res light/fire/cold skills (2/1 to max resist ratio), but I also know that if I sunk the rest of my points into HS it could greatly increase my defense rating.

Thus my question goes out to people who duel with their Hammerdins. Do you find you need more resists while dueling or more defense and if so why? I have about 12 points left to allocate so I can get about 6 more max resist to (most likely) light resist, but I don't want to find out late that I need defense more.

Input appreciated!

Edit:

One thing I forgot to add in regard to resists. Does increasing my max resists even worthwhile considering how much -resists gear casters seem to carry? Will my resists be high enough to make it worth while or will my own resists never even be near 75?|||You don't swap anything with a Liberator, you use Grief on your main switch instead of Wizardspike or HOTO. On a Liberator you would put more points in Charge and fewer in one of the other ones. I forget the specifics, but the skill selection is a little different.

Do you have enough Str for COA? That's a useful piece of gear for dueling.

If casters have -res gear, you should have more +res gear. +max res always helps then. Your focus should be on getting good charms with life and resists. Defense is usually not needed. It will be up to you to decide if you want an advantage against WW chars or an advantage against FOH, lightning sorcs, FC zons and trapsins.

More useful gear to have: 4 Topaz shield, 4 Sapphire shield - 205 resist to lightning or cold readily available to deal with enemies with lots of -res. Also Um Kira. Resist boots (Nat's will do fine if you don't have good rares, as they give CR and LR, the most needed types). Hotspur. Sigon's boots give 40 CR. The Arctic belt another 40. Snowclash gives +max cold and absorb (but without Wizardspike you won't be able to use that effectively when faced with Cold Mastery). 2 Ravens, 2 Dwarfs, 2 Wisps. TGod's. A Treachery will also help. And good charms are definitely important.

"will my own resists never even be near 75?"

They better be.
