Also, how should I gear? Getting these items should be no issue for me, so the optimal gear choices please.|||Im no expert but I would max str, use vita charms and for the skills allocation, I dont know for sure.|||korgath is wrong, do not put any more in to str than you need for gear. for gear you use pretty much the same as a zealot would. you may want to use a maxed armor instead of twitch though, not sure. you'd also want one of your rings to have a crap load of mana on it as that will be the thing to slow you down the most, mana. skills, i'm not sure since i've not made one at 18.|||15 life scs on inventory and str for boosting damage...Why is it wrong?|||strength boosts damage in a negligible way. put only as much strength in to your guy as needed for gear, nothing more.|||Its been a wile but I'll give it a whirl.
Charge is your main attack. It gains 25% ED and 15% AR every lvl
Might gives 60% damage first lvl, 30% every next lvl
Vigor gives 20% damage
For pure HC PKing I suggest the following. Wouldn't do any serious duelling with it, but it will get you ears

Skills (17 skillpoints from lvls and 9 from hell rush):
18 might
1 smite
6 Charge
1 smite (prereq)
stats:
75 str (for halberd)
rest in vit
Gear:
4 socket gothic plate
3 socket crown
6 socket (ethereal) superior halberd
switch: Cleglaws sword and damage pally shield of deflecting (ideally mechanics (2 sokets) of deflecting)
Cow Kings boots
Cleglaws gloves
deaths sache
Angelic rings and ammy
All sockets should have max and/or minimum damage jewels. Charms should be 2 or 3 great charms with mana, rest life. %ed is a nice second mod here (both on jewels and charms). Don't forget to leave one spot open for picking up an ear though...
How to play
Enter a game with your sword/shield switch on (2-handed weapons are a dead giveaway to anyone in town).
Determine where the people are (party invite, quest log, open wps...)
Go hostile
take the closest WP
use shift+charge on left mouse button to move around
look for people asap (follow path of slain monsters)
switch to your poleaxe and shift-charge close to the victim, then charge again to hit.
Extra remarks:
The weapon choice might look like an odd one. But it has some nice advantages:
- range 5 (meaning the distance you charge is shorter)
- low str, dex reqs (dex comes from items)
- 6 sockets
- high avg damage
Ethereal will do wonders to your damage, but keep in mind you'll have to replace it sometimes, which will cost you 6 max damage jewels each time.
I use charge constantly, so a relatively large mana pool is pleasant to have. It allows you to drink a full mana potion and keep charging. You will use all the mana in the potion, since charging uses mana faster than the regen rate granted from the potion.
Weapon switch is mainly for getting out of a pinch. This build WILL lose against high defense builds and amazons with a shield. They have a good chance of evading/blocking/defending against your charges. The shield offers you some block (around 50%), which is enough to run from the low dmg fast attacks like jab, but in the same time avoids getting blocklocked. It also offers you the ability to smite, stopping people in their tracks.
This build is adaptable for duelling too, but then you need 75% block with a 4 socket paladin shield, clegs sword, maybe a point in holy shield for extra stun lenght on smite, switch out clegs gloves for deaths (to smite faster) against fast attacking opponents, and you have a duelling setup. This requires better jewels and charms to be effective though, so the build price goes up considerably. You also want some charms to up your hit recovery rate. Tactics would be to close distance with shift-charge, smite till stunned, charge, smite, charge,... pick up ear.
