Yes percentages are easy to figure out, but Diablo's straight up numbers aren't. They are never additive. Take attack rating for example. Let's say I use angelics ring and amulet and I have 1024 ar from it. Some how I'll get 5,000 more attack rating instead of 1024.... it really just doesn't make any sense.

Let's take Damage Reduction for an example now.
The Gladiator's Bane: Damage Reduced By 15-20
Leviathan: Damage Reduced By 15-25%
Of course 25% is a quarter of any melee damage. So what's damage reduced by 20? In all logical sense it would mean if someone dealt 2000 damage to you it'd be 1980 damage done. In Diablo's sense it's not. So what gives?
Is there a guide? I've looked on google no luck, looked on here, everyone slips past it and suggests %'s. Maybe no one has ever discovered the true power behind straight numbers (+400 Damage anyone?). Perhaps straight numbers will rule over any and all percentages?

Anyone?
Ideas please.|||let say your angelic gives 1024 ar. and let say your skills gives attack rating of 200%. The amount of ar increased from 1024 ar is now 1024+(1024x200%)= 1024x3= 3072ar.
Base Attack Rating
(Your attack rating without +AR or +Ar% from equipment, charms or skills)
= (Dex * 5) - 35 + ClassBonus
The ClassBonus is:
20 for Barbarians and Paladins
15 for Assassins
5 for Amazons and Druids
-10 for Necromancers
-15 for Sorceresses
Example
Any lvl Necromancer with 200 Dex.
= (Dex * 5) - 35 + ClassBonus
= (200 * 5) - 35 + (-10)
= (1000) - 35 + (-10)
= 965 + (-10)
= 955AR
Your total ar is:
(Base Ar + Straight Number Ar from equipments) x (Ar% from equipments + Ar% from skills)|||Makes sense, so what about damage reduction?|||20 integer reduces damage by 20, 20% reduced damage by 20% prety straight forward. say 300 damage with 20dr you take 280 damage. 300 damage with 20%dr you take 240 damage.|||Quote:

do you take into account items that give +dex? or is this base ar when youre completely naked?|||oh yes, my mistake haven't put dex into account. but it should be included in the base ar rating.
