It is possible in two ways. Whrils, and Widow.
If you widow, you must play heavy with your traps, and have exceedingly excellent stuns. In any match you'll ever do, this requires your most precision. That said, you'll be playing the defensive mouse, to an extent. Naturally, you won't want to tank a whirl with a widow out

You'll have to keep a shadow, traps, and pay attention to where he is, keeping .6 to 1 screen's distance. I don't expect you to duel him from the CP (:P), but defensive is the key. I've tinkered with it on barb side vs a widow using ghost. When they trap + widow, it can be disorienting. Use that.
Whirls are much harder since, naturally, you're playing offensive vs a barb. YIKES! Not impossible. The victim barbs can b questioned, but I've killed barbs with a standard ghost, no switches either.
I play a barb like I would GvGing a ghost. I trap, stun, and move in at an angle. I always find it hard to really describe, but it's in a way where you don't tele stomp, but get in behind. Double tele since he'll WW to you, but you have to reposition and get behind. Some call it "edging". You can see it work when you both whirl, same direction (barb followed by ghost) and he turns green, you're untouched. It's hard, even with practice, but it's how I've been doing it. The same happens if he does a synching WW, an you intersect him, but yet behind.
Barbs like to underestimate and tele stomp. Just ww away in random directions (don't be predictable, lest he do the ww's behind you

Ultimately, it's hard and requires practice, but doable.|||Don't forget Enchant.|||I have the same issues with smiters as well. My ghost never ever wins to a smiter. for some reason wof doesn't work and they just run or charge thru it and i try to tele away but they still hit me. is it my timimg on the whirls or do I have to stun him before he charges??

WoF (or any trap) will stun them, but hey, they can charge right out. Stun won't save you. Instead, use that charge. In order of dumb to smart, they'll: Charge, run (chase), walk, shift, tele-smite.
Charge = very easy. Block is reduced, def out the window, and they're practically sitting ducks. I can't tell you how many times they get to 1/2 life from a bad charge near me.
Essentially, they go in a straight line. So, WW perpendicular to that. Be careful not to angle it close to them; you'll get hit. If you do it perpendicularly, they can not hit, but you will, often easily.
Run - Same, but they have better control over direction. They're also slower, and suffer the exact penalties a charger does, without the damage. These tend to charge up close. Same WW perpendicularly.
walk - You have more than enough time to at least have traps for comfort, MBing and keeping calm. WW perpendicularly when they get there. Walk is subject to changing into a run / charge

Shift - They rely on their high def, high block, and auto hit skill. Getting near is certainly asking for a smite. so? get near. There are angles around the smiter which, like earlier mentioned, make him not hit, you hit. You just "clip" him. Ah, you barb players remember this :P Don't let range scare you (3 BA vs 2 Claws). Clipping works, and you have Blade Shield anyway. If you don't feel like getting that risky, you can MB and trap them while they're sitting there doing nothing. If they move, you know how to react

CoS helps.
Tele - the hardest, but doesn't make them hard. They will try to either tele smite you're trap laying, or get smart and tele in front of a WW so they hit you. You have to move and think fast. Since they try to get smart, avoid long whirls; that's just asking for a smite. Short, alternating whirls works, but you can't do that all day.
Keep traps up, and MB him for stun. Same on the CoS. Don't get near, but stay close to get him to act / react.
When you get tele stomped, or you whirl shorter than he tele'd, he's effectively a shifting smiter at that time, and they get beaten the same way. WW away (doesn't matter where) from a tele stomp. Change direction and clip one who went in front. Never go through a smiter.
As with the barb, some knowledge of the theory craft (:P) and practice helps. These are just what I do, and they've been working for me alot.|||Change the res boots to Gore Rider and put some Um runes in your Fool's claw for dueling barbs and smiters. I heard Knockback is also a good thing to have on a Fool's claw.
What's a 50 on a Raven Frost? You mean 20 dex?
