Sorbing certain characters?

I've been dueling recently after a couple months away from playing. Over the past few days I've ran into alot of trapsins, farcasting zons and FOH pallys. IMO the three cheapest dueling characters in the entire game. Often I try to play GM but it usually fails. I'm not saying I suck, but I'm not the best either (especially after this long leave) but I've just about given up even trying to duel them. I've started to sorb the crap out of all three of them, especially the trapsins which i find the most annoying. Constantly spamming mind blast, while slowly chipping away at my life. I even have the 86% break point for FHR which still does little to counter. Most of the time all I can do is whirlwind back to town (I play as a BvC). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to counter mind blast other then sorbing?|||There is no real way to "counter" Mind Blast; which is one of the reasons why Assassins are so versatile in the PvP scene.

Fade, Cloak of Shadows, Lightning Sentries everywhere, plus Teleport and a little practice, and Assassins are by far, on the top of the list when it comes down to toughness and endurance.

The only immediate solution for you is to try to namelock as often as you can and hope you get lucky.

-Kinky|||well, its not like you cannot beat them though. especially the ones he is probably talking about.

slap on thundergods, which is gm, and you should be able to win most duels against trappers in pubs. you need to practise your namelocks because you need some speed to be successful. go with 40fcr. if you miss a tele/ww you should wsg instead of wwing out of the lock, its way faster and you get hit less often.

it helps a lot if you are good at whirling and a quick namelocker basically.

against really good trapsins you will never win as a bvc with gm sorb, sadly. thats because its extremely hard to hit them in the first place.|||Leap (Maxed) & Widowshoot, often Swap to Melee so to be able to WW off Mind Blast, and have 90% L Resistance (TG + Lo-ed Helm) for their L Sentries, covered with Fade perhaps, since Dying after Anya Quest shows you have the +30 Resistance, while you actually Don't.

And yes, WWing to Town/TP is OK, you can't always win, and is better not to drop an ear.|||Yes. Its not like its an auto-win or anything. If I'm to sorb I usually just go BM since swapping spiders for tgods drops me down a FCR breakpoint and the ravens are next to useless (except AR) when fighting sins. So I'll trade the Spiders and 2x ravens for t-gods and 2x wisps. Combined with highlords I'm lightning immune and can laugh at their traps.

I've found that I'm getting much better at Namelocking, dodging traps and pressuring/evading sins. I use leap to stun them but rarely widowmaker. Defensive sins aren't really a problem so much as aggressive ones are, that namelock and harass the hell out of me with constant spamming of mindblast. I thought being in the higher FHR breakpoint would help (86%) but for really good/aggressive sins it helps little. Same with leap, I've heard its uninterpretable but its not nearly as good for getting out of stun lock as wwing is.|||Quote:

Pretty much nothing left to say but that you're on the right way!|||WSG is better to get out of stun than ww against pure trappers in pretty much all cases since it just breaks the namelock faster and its easier to avoid traps as well.|||"Cheapest"? "GM"? "BM"?

nice, I also hate it when some people crying "<insert build> is cheap/ bm" etc. IMO the things that are BM are: nking (when agree upon no nking), modding/ hacking (such as farcast hack). To me, sorbing to the point of healing is somewhere in the middle (When I encouter this myself, i wouldn't call it bm, I just call it pointless and I bring in another character).

I also hate it when people say such and such equipment is bm (such as the venom from grief. I mean comeon, it's only level 15, if you lose because of that, you have a serious problem).|||Exactly. When you make a certain char, you should consider its weaknesses and plan ahead so you have a way to cope, but most people who use elemental damage chars start crying when the opponent seeks to...get this...MINIMIZE THE DAMAGE THEY TAKE! D2 PvP is rock, paper, scissors. Instead of whining cause the other guy has scissors, get a rock.
