30 Whirlwind Barb Advice?

Looking to make one of these next. I've heard that without decent charms life and damage will be a problem, to what extent is this true? I'm not looking to make a perfect one, just something that can compete in random pubs and has some style.

How much would you reckon a novice/mediocre charm setup would cost (EuScL) as this is the biggest barrier for me making a new character (even to the point of considering playing Classic for LLD.

For a starter kit I'm looking at:

Peasant Crown/any BO/WW Helm

Robo naga or Honor (probably Honor to start with)

Either another Naga or an upped Swordback hold

Artisan's x of the Squid? Really not sure about this slot, maybe just an upped Twitch

Death Belt & Gloves OR

IK Belt & Gloves OR

String of Ears & Bloodfists (leaning towards this)

Gtoes or Sander's (depending on the need for CB)As for jewelry it's unlikely I can afford 2 SoJ so I'm pretty stumped, maybe go with Angelics for BvB and random rares (+2 Barb ammy, res+life rings?) otherwise?

Any help would be much appreciated, particularly on the budget charms. |||Here are two interesting threads about the subject:

As for your charms i'd use any max/AR/lifers i could get and just upgrade as you go. That should be fine on ladder at least.|||Hadn't found the second link, thanks for that one I'll give it a read.|||If you find a BO/WW helm, get 2 sockets from larzuk and put a lore rw in it.

Depending if you want to duel casters or melee enemies determines much of your equipment (resists vs block/defence). but here are some general guidelines:

- You'll need CBF, so either deaths sache, rhyme shield, (upped) hawk mail or spirit shroud are needed. Of these I'd choose spirit shroud for the skill and the MDR (vs casters), or upped hawk mail for FRW and defence (vs melee). This enables you to allways have CBF while still having good mods against the people you're figthing. This also leaves you the liberty of going W/S or dual wielding, and your other slots free to change as you please.

- Don't forget dual spirit swords on switch for prebuffing BO/shout, they also give you a ton of FHR, which might be nice vs sins stunlocking you. for more prebuff skills use myth rw armour

- Off-weapon IAS doesn't help WW, so no need for deaths sache/hand combo, so SoE vs melee, some belt with resists vs casters.

- For jewelry angelics, but if you find a platinum ring of dexterity that will add more AR than an extra angelics (as it gets upped by the other angelics). Wouldn't let go of those for casters, as every hit counts.

- IK gloves or bloodfists and sanders boots|||putting lore into a hat would be a waste, jewels man. ww has such crappy %ed, you need all the help you can get.|||WWhelm with 3 ED +min/max jewels for fighting is indeed better. I'd also settle for +mastery and/or +increased speed, given the rarity of WW on helms. Lore +3 BO for prebuff in stash then.

edit: You could also go 31 for rockstopper and IK boots, if you're just planning pubby duelling|||pfft @ 31.|||@31 they could use 20% ed/15% IAS jools too. And a few lvl up they could use... hey wait, isn't this a LLD barb?

btw i would not recommend sticking ed% + min/max jools in a hat because of the glich.|||So far my gear is:

Peace Armor

String of Ears 8/15/15

Sander's godly pink boots

Bloodfists

2x Honor Nagas (I might replace one with a robo when I have the jewels)

Angelic Wings & 1x Halo

1 rare ring with 100 ar and 45 mana (this is a lifesaver for the manaheavy WW)

a budget pruby'd Peasant Crown

Add to that the most ghetto charm setup you have ever seen in your DII career (17 life grand charms etc. ) and that's pretty much my setup. Dual Spirit on switch and an Up'd Swordback in the stash for melee.

1.5k life after BO, 500 ww damage and 800 conc damage.
