Best Low Level PK Build?

Looking for something around 18-30 to hunt Baalruns (ideally). I already have my 18 Cleg Zealot (who I love to bits - shoutout to CDM for the guide) and was looking to try something different.

Would it have to be a caster for optimum chasing ability? I would prefer a melee oriented build, something along the lines of a Whirly Barb or a Smite/Chargerdin.

What builds are effective with subpar charm/jewel setups? As it's the start of the ladder it'll take a while to get anywhere near ideal setups, so what builds function well with the basics?

Just looking for ideas/experiences really. |||Quote:

Well, if you're looking for a cheap PK, you might consider a Kicksin. It's fast, really good against casters and reasonably good against melee. Depending on the correct setup you can kill enemies 2 to 3 times your lvl.

sample build (lvl 25):

skills (24 + 12 pts total):

------------------------

Main skills (upto 34 pts depending on the mods on your claws):

Dragon Talon: 18 pts (after +skills)

BoS: 4pts for -30 wsm claws, 5 for slower ones (after +skills)

Dragon Flight: 1 pt (+ 2 prereqs)

Claw block: 8 hard pts (+1 prereq)

Which leaves you with around 10 points to diversify:

- stunlocking with traps

- CoS for -defence boost (good vs high defence builds)

- shadow

- ...

Stats (120 + 15):

-----------------

Str: enough for a 3-soc death mask

dex: rest if pure pk, enough for gear for dueller

vit: 40 - 50 points if pure pk, rest for dueller

ene: none

Gear:

-----

Weapons:

2x strenght rw claws: huge life and str bonusses, some CB (nice for tackling higher lvl chars or high life chars). On both these claws you should have +3 claw block. Other useful skills to have (saves skillpoint from the regular build): Dragon talon, dragon flight

switch:

2 claws with in total +4 to BoS minimum (max would be 2 claws with +1 to skill tree +3 to BoS for lvl 7 BoS), maybe +shadow on these too if you decide to use one

Armour: 4soc embossed plate with 4 perfect emeralds for PK, rubies for duelling

Helm: 3 soc death mask with perfect amethysts (together with the +str o your claws this should enable you to wear the armour with allmost no hard points in str).

Boots: Any warboots will do, look into crafting for nice ones, upped goblin toes if you decide to PK lvl 50+.

Gloves: Bloodfists or good blood crafts for Pking high lvls

Belt: deaths for cbf

rings and ammy: angelics

charms:

%ED, +str/dex, a small cold charm, enough fhr charms to get to 64% bp.

Basically, kick damage is upped by str, dex, off-weapon %ED and boot damage. I choose to pump dex over str because it also helps your base AR. More expensive setups are possible (with 20%ED jewels in armour/hat), but this one should get you some baal ears. Only problem is chicken hack, this is not a one hit killer.

As you can see, the trick to building a good one with some support skills is getting good claw mods, but the only really necessary mod on the claws is +3 claw block. The base build can be done with a hell rush and no extra mods on claws (allthough extra mods are nice ofc).

CB is only meant for fighting high lvls. They have so much life compared to your damage that 1/10th of their life still is a very nice damage boost.

You could go lvl 30 for treachery armour and other goodies, which makes it possible to use fade instead of BoS. You'll need deaths hand to go with the sache for extra attack speed then.|||Malice would be a more useful claw than a second Strength.

For armor, you probably don't want to use emeralds even vs regular PK, since venom will completely screw them up (if he does the lvl 30 he mentioned, and that's where the good stuff like venom and shadow comes).

Spirit shroud is fine for the rep (malice), CBF, and skill.

Also, + life will add more than + str / dex would save.

Even still, it'll be neat, but won't be a sure fast killer.|||Quote:

For general PKing, you don't want to maximize life, you want max damage. Rubies in armour would be better if we just aim for str and dex for gear. I like my life in hard points, as I also use a 4 perf diamond armour from time to time vs higher lvls.

Malice will not add much in terms of damage on a lvl 25. Open wounds is more interesting in HLD imho. The second strenght claw adds 25 str x 1.2 = 30%ED, which will add more damage than OW. The only mod "wasted" on the second claw is the CB.

This kicker does best against higher lvls. If you hostile a bunch of lvl 50s, chances are they'll go LOL instead of TP. Being underestimated gives you an extra 1 or 2 seconds to kill. Also, there's little to loose if you bite the dust, so you can do crazy things with it .

Oh, and lvl 30 is a whole different ball park. You get mindblast, so you can stunlock. You get treachery for IAS so using fade becomes viable. So it's a much more diverse skill set, which will need better claws, more expensive gear, +skills,...|||kickers arent fast enough dealing damage, imo. i love them and all but you'll most likely get people saving and exiting instead of dying.

treachery is rlvl 43 at best.|||I've actually had more success than I imagined with my Cleg Zealot. Collected all sorts of ears from level 18-35 without too much hassle. I've never been in danger of dying and the only real nuisance was a smart bone Necro and about one in every 5 Sorcs who manage to tele away in time, else they get one-shot.

I may invest more time and effort into making my current char a better dueller rather than build a new one from scratch if I keep having results like this. Thanks for the input on Kickers all.|||Optimized duelers are a little tougher than unsuspecting pvm sorcs.|||Quote:

With a little luck with CB I can take people down in 2-3 seconds. I'm not going to say regardless of lvl, but as long as i can hit. I use 2 different setups: one titan-like for Pking around lvl 30, one with massive AR and CB for PKing nightmare baal runs. I'm pretty shure it's not the hardest hitting PK out there, but the range of lvls it can take down is huge. Last ladder got some lvl 75 - 80 PvM ears with more or less the same build (more AR and around 75% CB). And a full BO barb goes down just as fast as a lower life opponent.

And you're right about treachery. I thought all the 1.12 armours were around lvl 30 req... Still, lvl 30 is a different ballpark.
