Damage Reduced Question

[:1]Hello, I'm pretty new to pvp, and i've decided to respec my sorc for a dream enchantress My question is: what is the difference (in pvp) between damage reduced %, and damaced reduced by XX?

Basically, should I buy a shaftstop to go with my dungoes, or can i use the awesome Gladiators Bane I found?

Thanks, and sorry if this is a noob/faq... for some reason i suck at the search on these forums.

-pryingopenmine|||Damage % takes that percent from the damage. With a hundred damage coming through, you'd take only 50 with 50% damage reduce%.

Just plain damage reduce takes off that number from the total. 100 with 15 DR (not percent) is 85 taken.

With ES (like on a sorc), that % has already been taken. More % will be from a lower number, and integer reduce is more effective for them. It's not enough to go out of the way to get though. For your armor / belt, it'd be used mainly for Viper and Arach.|||since players tend to do tons more damage than monsters it's generally accepted that in pvp %DR is better than integer DR. in pvm, however, a large stack of integer DR can make you nigh invulnerable.|||how about both? Dungo's + SS = Max, what if I wear my DR 19 GBane, would that affect my survivability pvp? (this would be vs melee barbs/pals/etc)|||Quote:

The 19 PDR extra will do barely nothing, melee builds like the ones you mentioned deal to much raw damage to be negated directly using PDR. Building around energy shield can allow you to tank a hit or two ... however I've personally never gotten the right charms to make effective ES sorc.

I've come across one sorc that could survive the physical damage of continuous wws by my hybrid sin, while it was amusing it didn't really help when the other guns where pulled out.
