SO:
QUESTIONS
What build options are there for the different classes?
What gear should I be on the lookout for?
What rules are there for LLD on EuSCL?
Is there already a thread somewhere detailing things that I couldn't find?
Do you LLD and, if so, what's up?|||http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=533767 the guides thread has a LLD section with both specific guides and general information.
There's a huge thread aboout LLD items on the very first page of this forum, just a few threads below.
This should answer at least some of your questions.|||before builds, what level?
for a beginner i'd suggest making a lvl 30 caster. some people insist upon lvl 29 cap on Eu, so ask around before you get that last lvl. lvl 29/30 has a wide variety of builds to chose from and if you go with a caster, you can gear several different characters with the same basic gear set:
pcrown
eye of etlich/telling of beads
spirit crystal sword (long sword for some trap builds)
vipermagi
rhyme bone shield, whitstan, viscertuant for sorc, spirit for pally, rhyme necro head for necro
mages/frosties
2x sojs
string of ears
sander's boots
low req staff insight on switch (runestaff is good all around base)
40x 15 life small charms for inventory
with that relatively small investment you can make many of the top builds including but not limited to:
hammerdin
bonemancer
fireball sorc
^top 3 builds in popularity and killing ability
windy druid
fissure druid
light trapper
fire trapper
blizz sorc
this will let you get a feel for lld. then you can branch out (down) by trying lvl 18 and lvl 9. these are the 3 most common levels of play. in all dueling casters are cheaper than melee. to be top notch melee you must be prepared to spend a lot in terms of HRs (imagine the most you've seen a HLD item go for then double it, that could be for one jewel) and in terms of time looking for jewels and top notch charms.
lld is much more entertaining imo than HLD. there's more of a chance to showcase skill vs just flat out gear. you are rewarded by tricking out your characters with the best possible gear, but as someone once said, the best gear just lets you make more mistakes.|||Thanks, I figure that this thread can be done with now. I honestly didn't look around enough before I made it, so now I'm in the right direction. Tralee-trala!|||so what are you thinking of making?|||Thanks for asking, whoa.
First off, the appeal of LLD for me is that obscene high-level runewords are out, especially Enigma. I like the idea that I can tweak my FRW up and it makes a difference and that I can experiment with lower-level items that just get ignored in late-game. The teleporting feature of Enigma seems to water down HLDing to me, turning it into a sort of Dragonball Z ten-episode-fight every time.
I like Necros, so I may go with a bone necro to start. I despise Blessed Hammer, so Hdin is out. A sorc could be fun to play and I think assassins are really cool and tactical. I have the bad habit of wanting to make it big with rebel builds like the Daggerzon and the Ranger, so too bad the Widowmaker is req. lvl65 eh?
I'll start with a Necro, then try something like a Slowadin aka Holy Freeze + Cleglaw's + Zeal or Auradin with a lot of FRW to run circles around them. I found some +15 max damage jewels on a mule recently which I'd been considering trash jewels and thankfully didn't sell. That's a start, eh?
LLD also seems like there's vastly more room for innovation with gear and build, weirdly enough. HLDing has lists of required gear to be successful. I dunno if LLD is the same, but it seems like there'd be more room to breathe with it.|||if you want a fun build that's a little off the beaten path, i recommend and poison zon. here's a nice little guide that went up not long ago.
ps. may want to add this one to the sticky, mike.|||Quote:

I think that might be my favorite quote about diablo, ever! I laughed pretty hard.
Good luck with Low level dueling, I recently got into it this ladder and I've been having a grea time

I like the idea of running around trading blows for longer, tbh.
