weapon switch gl-...... +

Yeah, glitch. Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch (god help me if mephiztophelez is still around ), I have 0 interest in learning how to do it, arguing the legitimacy of it, or discussing anything else about it outside of the context of my question. Zilch. Nada. Please read on before jumping to conclusions, though this will be tl;dr-ish.

I very recently came back to the game after ~3 year break (stopped ~.11b if memory serves, reinstalled 2 days ago) to play with WoW friends that decided to kill time on ladder after this most recent reset. The time I left was a while before said exploit was publicly known and in use.

I still have my old nl account. Lovely druid, nec, trapper, etc etc. So since I already have those, for this reset I'm opting to make something I've always wanted to focus on having on closed bnet, even if on lolladder, rather than a mediocre-geared alt: a BvC.

Perhaps you can already see where this is going. Now that you have my life story, here's the point of this post:

How viable are stunlock-dependent classes like barbs, trappers, druids, etc with WSG [presumably] still able to cheaply and effectively counter a mechanic that they more or less rely on? I'd hate to put a ton of effort into a new character only to find it's gimped in comparison to what it was capable of way-back-when.

Also, are there any other noteworthy changes I'm unaware of as far as pvp goes? Both pride and the terror of having to relearn has me shying away from pubs and organized 4v4s atm, so I'm largely ignorant of what's new in these latest patches.

Thanks in advance ~~|||WSG isn't as bad as you down play it out to be. It can definitely help counter it, but doesn't guarantee any kind of safety.

WSG won't gimp any one. You won't even encounter it unless you're in a private dueling league / realm.|||i think this is the last thing that should be repaired (if ever)...

with tempo blizzard is fixing things, all stuff will be fixed with patch 1.67d

when you meet good trapper/hybrid assa you will like wsg...|||Quote:

welcome bak to d2 meng.

wsg was around back when you played, maybe not as widespread as it got a year later but was still always used by players that knew about it.

anyways, wsg is not impossible to deal with. it did cause quite a commotion a few years back when it got widespread and everyone was mashing w, binding weaponswitch to mwd or using two-key wsging, but it calmed down after a while and people got over it.

the only class that really gets hurt a lot by it is trappers because of the ease that players can escape from mindblast/trap stun with wsging, but even then good trap players developed tactics against this, trapping ahead, getting hardlocks that are hard to wsg out of, using the wsg against the users by forcing them to desync themselves when they wsg. It does make a lot of matchups harder for a trapper but it can be dealt with, so players just learned to cope with it, same as with various desync tricks and countless other "bugs" that are considered standard gameplay tactics nowadays.

It can be used to escape any stun but generally isn't used against anything but trappers. leap kb will not be canceled by wsging, if anything this trick is going to be used by barbs not against them. Same with druids, its not like someone is gonna be wsging out of nados, however it does make dvt suddenly not that horrible of a matchup for druids.

anyways, things shouldn't be too far different than you remember them. not much has changed in terms of items and setups. players as a whole should have more knowledge on builds and tactics, but of course this is d2 and most players are as bad as you remember them, run a few laps around the moor for warmup and you'll do fine.|||Good to see you back |||Quote:

*waves*

hiya Camden!

|||Cool cool; I had a feeling perhaps I had an exaggerated idea of it in my mind, I just couldn't help but remember sitting on vent with people screaming "OMG WSG" haha.

Thanks everyone for the input. Another thing - was the anya bug ever fixed?|||Quote:

If they whine about WSG, smile and play.

And to my knowledge, the Anya bug is still a problem.|||with bug fixing progress it is planned for patch 1.67c...
