Low Level Duelers

I read the other thread about lld and i just got confused...

im making a lvl 12 pally dueller and want to know what the best build and gear is.

max|||Depends on what skills you want to use. Possibilities are smite, charge, sacrifice, zeal. All can be built into effective duellers. to test them out, build the following char:



Skillset:

1pt zeal, max sacrifice, 1pt smite, 1pt charge, rest in might



Gear:

3 socket helm and 4socket armour (+min/max/ED jewels)

4 socket pally shield with ED (+min/max/ED jewels)

Angelic rings and ammy

sigons boots and gloves

deaths belt

Cleglaws sword (+min/max/ED jewel)

on switch: ethereal heavy damage 2h weapon (+min/max/ED jewels)



stats:

str: enough for gear

dex: enough for max block with shield

vit: rest

ene: base

This way you'll have a hybrid pally that can stun (smite), attack from range and move at great speed (charge), attack fast (zeal) or attack with a hard hit from up close (sacrifice).|||what about just a charger?|||Charger? Use a high damage weapon, rest is cake. You kinda rely on people dying in 1 or 2 hits. Don't know specifics for level 12 but maybe a 6 socketed weapen full of max damage jewels will work.|||Well, a 5 or 6 socket 1hand weapon with a 4 socket shield would mean a lot of extra +max from jewels. 6 socket 2handed weapons have a higher base damage, but you loose the shield which means 4 jewels and the %ED and AR bonus on the shield, blocking... 2handers also need high str/dex to equip, which means less stat points in vit, so less life. So it's probably not worth it. This changes around lvl 18~25, when you can use nightmare weapons, some nice Uniques kick in, runewords,...

Depending on wealth and the time you invest, you can either get:

- Clegs sword: 50% chance to do double damage, only one socket to fill, so a cheap and easy option. It's got a big difference between min and max damage though.

-War scepter with +3charge and +3 might automods, has 5 or 6 sockets to fill (don't remember of the top of my head), takes some time to shop, so it's expensive and time consuming. It will get you better damage than cleggs sword though (and more reliable). This is only viable on a pure charger though.

-2handed weapon, easy to get a 6soc pike/maul, only 2 extra jewels needed (+4 from the shield you don't use). I didn't calculate, bur I expect that the damage will not be as high as clegs sword (though again, more reliable).

So it's personal preference. I advised the cleggs setup cause it's low hassle, a very good starter option for LLD for any melee fighter (exept kicksins). If you plan on PVP another option is to exchange the max damage charms for rubies in armour and helm for a healthy life boost, if you're looking for PKing you need the 1 hit kill so you need the jewels.

Skillset for a pure charger (no hell rush needed, only den and radament skill quests):

1 charge

1 smite (prereq)

max might

The skillset in the previous post is meant for a hell rushed char with skill and +life quests done (+12 skillpoints + 45 life + 30 res all +15 stat points if you do all the relevant quests). It has a little less in might, but adds a whole lot of versitality. you can play it as a zealot, charger, use smite with sacrifice (no aura),...

For pure charger you might want to swap out the sigons gloves for bloodfists, as you don't need the IAS.|||Damage with cleglaws is still lower than 6 sock ethereal pike/great maul (or even rare ethereal) for example, its better than perfect rare war scepter though.

And since u will do 1 hit kills you dont need to care much about durability for a long time ^^|||Not a rare warscepter, a 5 socket one with good automods (+charge, +might), ethereal and superior with %ED if possible. This will give you 9 max damage jewels (+81 max damage with perfect jewels iirc, with perfect +min damage mod on there too add + 45 min damage, rares can get 180% ED too on top of that). The extra jewels and %ED on the shield and the extra %ED from the +skills take the scepter to the same damage range the 6socket maul has. A pike or great maul is more damaging, but you loose out on a lot of life thanks to the high stat req. This means that you need to be very carefull duelling jab zons, kicksins and zealots. You miss your charge, and their fast attacks WILL kill you. They have at least 75% chance to block the charge (zons even more thanks to evade), and you don't have a shield or high life so you loose your ear. Assume you'll need 4 charges for one to connect, for a one hit kill you need to hit...

Also remember that Clegs sword can also be ethereal. Like I said, it's not the best option, it's a low cost low hassle alternative for starting out in duelling or to build a cheap toon, and it really shines on Charge - Zeal/sacrifice hybrids where twohanded options are too slow and the skillset too diverse for a scepter.|||Quote:
